JAZZ EXAMS
Our Jazz Classes follow the internationally recognised International Dance Technique (IDT) designed to develop strong, versatile dancers. Created by Lucy Ellis Dance Coaching and Kylie Norris, International Dance Technique is a syllabus designed to develop plyometric agility, strength, fitness, flexibility and strong jazz technique in dancers of all ages and abilities. The syllabus grades progressively train all relevant Kick, Turn and Jump techniques.
Visionary Jazz students have the opportunity to take part in IDT examinations, at the director’s discretion. Due to their complexity and depth, most classes spend approximately two years preparing before sitting an exam, allowing dancers the time needed to develop confidence, strength, and a thorough understanding of the syllabus.

TAP EXAMS
Created by Glenn Wood, the unique syllabus launched into the tap scene in 2004, after 6 years of research and development. GWT is founded on solid technique. The steps, routines and combinations are fluid, relaxed and enjoyable to dance. Glenn Wood Tap is more than a tap syllabus, it is like a tap emporium that encompasses many avenues to help create the best tap dancers.
Tap students may have the opportunity to take Glenn Wood Tap examinations, at the director’s discretion. These exams are conducted by accredited examiners and assess rhythm, technique, coordination, and performance. Dancers classes spend around the first six months of the year preparing for their exams, ensuring students build confidence and a solid understanding of the work. Participation in exams provides a dancer with goals, strengthens discipline, and offers formal recognition of each dancer’s progress as they advance through the syllabus.

It emphasises strong, clean technique and adaptability across different ballet styles. Students will sit their ABT Examinations through Canterbury Ballet and Dance Academy who we partner with to offer our students high quality ballet training.
